Sumintra, a dedicated Resident in Counseling, is deeply committed to the field of behavioral health. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hampton University and went on to complete her Master’s in Counselor Education at Virginia Commonwealth University, specializing in Couples and Family Counseling. With a strong foundation in community mental health, Sumintra has served as a mental health counselor, care aide, and therapeutic mentor, working extensively with both children and adults. Her professional experience extends to outpatient therapy, where she conducts individual, couples, family, and group therapy sessions.

Sumintra utilizes a diverse range of therapeutic modalities, including Structural Family Therapy, Imago Couples Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Gottman Level 1, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Her approach to treatment emphasizes tailoring goals to suit each client’s unique needs and meeting them at their current stage of progress.

Sumintra places great importance on cultural sensitivity and the non-judgmental honoring of individual narratives. She strives to create a secure and nurturing therapeutic space, fostering an environment in which clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences.
