Michael Merlino, LPC

Michael is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has over 10 years working in the mental health field. Michael earned a bachelor’s of science in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2016 and his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2019. Michael has worked in a variety of settings, including outpatient, inpatient, TDT, and in-home services working with adolescents and adults. Michael specializes in working with clients experiencing mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and other major life transitions.

Michael is passionate about helping his clients reach their goals, and better their life as a whole to create the future the client would like for themselves. He utilizes multiple treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and a variety of Mindfulness practices to assist the client to learn to live in the present moment. Michael also utilizes a person-centered approach to treatment, and looks to create treatment plans specific to each individual client to ensure the client is on track to accomplish their goals in therapy. Michael understands how one’s mental health can have a drastic impact on how an individual functions, and wants to assist his clients in living a healthier life.
